How to Use the Seattle Jail Roster
The Seattle jail roster is available to the general public through the King County Subject Lookup tool online. Users may search by name, booking number, facility, or custody status. The lookup tool can be used through the following steps:
- Visit the official King County Subject Lookup tool site.
- Enter a last name. A first name helps narrow common last names.
- Add the date of birth if known.
- Use the wildcard symbol when the spelling is unsure.
- Set current in custody to yes for a live roster check, or leave blank for a broader history view.
- If the person is not in the result list, call the jail line at (206) 296-1234 to confirm custody by phone.
Note that the lookup tool reflects current custody at King County jails only. It doesn't include people held in state or federal prisons, or in another county.

Inmate Search by Jail Facility
King County's Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) oversees the management of multiple facilities and programs. King County Correctional Facility (KCCF) is the main adult jail in Seattle. Inmate records from this facility are included in the county's Subject Lookup Tool, which searches both KCCF and the Kent facility. Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC) is King County's second adult jail. It shares the same Subject Lookup Tool as KCCF. A single search covers both facilities, and the result tells you which of the two facilities the person is held at.
Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center (Juvenile Detention) is the county's juvenile detention facility. Juvenile records are handled differently from adult booking records under Washington law and are generally confidential. This means that they are not searchable through a public online roster. Authorized record seekers who need information about a juvenile in custody may contact the Youth Services Division.
Seattle Visitation Rules and Schedules
Members of the public can visit the King County Correctional Facility on a first-come, first-served basis. Up to 4 visitors can visit at the same time, as long as at least one is an adult. Visitors under 18 must be directly supervised by an adult the entire time.
Professional visitors (like attorneys) have no additional restrictions beyond the standard rules. Visits are tied to the unit where the person is housed. It is important to call ahead because unit shifts and reception closes for short windows during the day. All visitors must bring a valid government photo ID. Visitors must wear shoes and follow the dress code. The dress code bars miniskirts, low-cut or revealing necklines, bare midriff, and exposed undergarments. Visitors are required to check in at the jail reception at least 15 minutes before the desired slot. Each person in custody gets one hour of visits per week.
